We are a laid back, caring, family-focused couple, who enjoy life. We choose to see the positive in almost every situation and believe there is more than one way to accomplish our goals. We believe that lifting others up is our responsibility and we cherish the opportunities to do just that for family and strangers alike.
Our dream has been to start a family. While we had talked about adopting a child one day, we didn’t know it would be the path to grow our family. Roger’s best friend and Amber’s God- brother were adopted, so it was a natural fit for our family.
Getting started in the adoption process was a bit scary. We made the decision to adopt, then we found ourselves thinking, “now what.” It was a bit overwhelming at first. It was entirely new to us and there were so many “what if’s”. We wanted to make sure we were making the right choices, and we were nervous.
As soon as we got on the phone with the Graceful Adoptions’ team, we felt instantly comfortable. Honestly, what a breadth of fresh air! We found Graceful Adoptions on–line and liked that they seemed different than other agencies we had found and researched. They guided us through the entire process, were upfront, and kept us informed along the way. We never had to worry about anything!
We were matched with an amazing mother! We cried the first time we met her and are so glad we had time together at the hospital. We were worried that our conversations would be awkward, but they weren’t. She is so funny, she put us at ease. We absolutely love her and look forward to staying in contact with her for years to come.
If I had advice for anyone considering adoption, my recommendation would be to call Graceful Adoptions. They know their stuff – from the beginning to the end, we couldn’t have asked for a better agency. Once you start the process, try to stay focused on the excitement and joy rather than all the unknowns. Generally, the adoption process is lengthy so don’t expect to have a child in weeks or a few months. Be patient. It’s worth it in the end.
