Adoption was my first and only option! I was in a position to bless someone who couldn’t have children, and I wanted to provide someone that miracle.
As soon as I found out I was pregnant, I knew I needed to find an adoption agency that I liked. Graceful Adoptions was one of three agencies I called, but they are the only adoption agency that were personal. Graceful Adoptions didn’t make me feel like a number, a medical record, an incubator, or just someone who could give someone else a baby. They were more personal. Talking to members of the Graceful Adoptions’ team was more like talking to friends or family.
Graceful Adoptions really got to know me! When I received family profiles to review, they were all amazing, but one seemed to match exactly what I was looking for. They were a kind, good-hearted, and stable couple with amazing values.
Even though I was sure these were my child’s parents, we went through Graceful Adoptions’ process to make sure. First, I interviewed them on the telephone. I was very nervous, it was a bit awkward, so we had a second telephone call. The second call was much better. When they traveled to meet me before the baby was born, we shared meals together, played at a park with my daughter, and even got pedicures. It was like we had known each other for years, the relationship was easy and comfortable. I knew I had made the 100% right decision!
I know it’s not for everyone, but this amazing couple, now part of my family, were with me in the delivery room. I was the first to hold the baby, and then we kind of shared her. They had selected her name and asked if I liked it, her middle name was my last name – they had named her after me.
The hardest part was when the adoptive parents left to return home. They had already stayed past the time when they could leave so we could spend more time together. I knew I wasn’t losing a daughter, I was gaining a larger family.
Now I’m focused on getting a job and getting back to a routine with the warmth of knowing my child is with the right family. She is going to have a great life!
For those considering placing a child for adoption, go with your instincts. If you want to be treated like someone special and you want the opportunity to really get to know the adoptive parents, you should work with Graceful Adoptions! You will be glad you did.
